A Kansas win over Duke can be enough to decide a national title—in basketball. But when the unbeaten football Jayhawks beat the unbeaten Blue Devils 35-27 on the football field last Saturday, it wasn’t enough to help Kansas achieve one of the most elusive milestones in college football. It’s been 4,728 days—all the way back to October 2009—since Kansas last made an appearance in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Yet despite a hot 4-0 start and a win last weekend in front of a sellout home crowd, the Jayhawks will have to wait at least another few days—and keep winning—before they find themselves with a number attached to their name.
